DIAL-A-RIDE MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION |

The Senior Centers in the towns of East Lyme, Groton, New London and Waterford have received a state grant for Dial-A-Ride transportation for seniors 60+ and persons with disabilities and for Caregiver Mileage Reimbursement.
This transportation and mileage reimbursement is for medical trips only within New London County.
The Dial-a-Ride Medical Transportation will be provided or brokered by Eastern Connecticut Transportation Consortium, Inc. ECTC is a private non-profit agency incorporated in 1992 to promote the coordination and consolidation of paratransit services for persons of low income, seniors and persons with disabilities.

Service Description: ECTC will arrange curb to curb alternative medical transportation for seniors (60 years and older) and disabled individuals residing in East Lyme, Groton, New London or Waterford who are either unable to drive, utilize public transportation, or where the service hours of town funded senior transportation are unable to meet their needs. Trip requests will be reviewed to determine if it can be met by existing transportation services. If so, we will refer them to the appropriate service. For individuals who cannot have their needs met by existing services, alternative transportation will be provided for up to 24 one-way trips per individual per program year (July-June). Transportation will be available 24 hours per day 7 days per week for trips within New London County. There is no fare charged and no money is to be exchanged between the driver and the rider when assigned to an alternative transportation provider. Donations will be accepted for the trips, and should be mailed directly to the Groton Senior Center at 102 Newtown Road, Groton CT 06340. Riders will not be denied transportation if they cannot afford a donation. |

How To Access This Service: · Call your senior center for the Eligibility Form · Complete form and return it to the senior center. · Calls will be taken by ECTC from 8:30am to 2:00pm Monday - Friday (excluding holidays). · Reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Weekend & Monday trips must be made no later than Friday by 2pm. · Reservations can be made up to 2 weeks in advance. · Riders are to be ready at their scheduled pickup time. · Drivers are not required to assist the riders.
Cancellations must be made 2 hours prior to the scheduled pickup by calling ECTC Monday - Friday between 8:30am to 4:00pm. Improper notification may result in suspension of service.
Caregiver Mileage Reimbursement
¨ Driver and rider must complete a Caregiver Mileage Request Form.
¨ Mileage will be calculated by ECTC based on the shortest distance.
¨ Form must include date, start address, destination address, and must be signed and dated by client and driver.
¨ Senior Center representative will review and sign form to be sure it is completed correctly.
¨ Senior Center will fax form to ECTC by the last Wednesday of each month along with a Eligibility Form if client has not been previously served, for processing.
¨ ECTC will issue a check to the caregiver for authorized trips performed.
ECTC’s Payment Process
Checks will be cut on the first Monday of each month only for Caregiver Mileage Request forms received the last Wednesday of the previous month. Checks will be made payable to the Caregiver and mailed directly to them unless otherwise requested. Senior Center representatives should verify correct mailing address of Caregiver at the time the form is submitted. |
